This simple educational and activity game for toddlers was a smash hit at the 2012 New York Toy Fair. While most toy makers were introducing tech and electronic-related new toys, Roll and Play by Thinkfun demonstrated that simple can be good.
Designed for toddlers 18 months, and up, Roll and Play is an educational game that promotes parental interaction, and action/activity related responses.
The concept: The game consists of a colorful cloth cube and 48 game cards that relate a color with an action.
The cards are divided into six different card categories – Body Parts (ie. Rub your belly), Emotions (ie. Make a happy face), Counting (ie. how many fingers), Colors (ie.Find something GREEN), Animal Sounds (what’s a kitty say), and Actions (ie. Wave bye-bye).
Take turns rolling the plush cube with your toddler. Choose a card based on the side of the cube that faces up, and do the simple activity on the card. That’s it, but the response from the toddlers will be amazing – the fun of correctly picking the color card, and, doing the action you read to them, combine to make a simple fun activity into an educational and confidence building home run.
